What to expect in therapy

If you haven’t had therapy before you might be wondering what to expect. My approach is relaxed and informal, and centres on collaborating with you to explore the issues that feel important to you. This might involve becoming more aware of what is happening in the present moment, being curious about what is happening in the relationship between us, or noticing body sensations – and responding with acceptance and kindness. All of this can help give new perspectives on familiar difficulties.

Sessions can be in person in Lancaster, usually at the Storey Institute, Meeting House Lane, Lancaster, LA1 1TH, or online.

I work with individual adults aged 18 or over.

Steps to working together

1

Book a free 30-minute meeting

Taking the step to start therapy can feel daunting. I offer a free 30 minute consultation so you can talk about what you’d like to get out of therapy, ask questions, and we can discuss whether we’re a good fit to work together.

2

Come for a first session

If you decide to go ahead and book a full session, we’ll continue to explore your goals, as well as agreeing how we will work together.

3

Move forward

After that, sessions are usually weekly or fortnightly, depending on what works best for you.
